Turn on device location
By turning on device location, you can get location-based services and info on your Android.
Settings and features vary by device and Android version. The steps might be different on your phone.

To turn on device location, swipe down from the top of the screen twice.

Touch and hold Location
.
Important: If you don't see Location
, tap Edit
. Then drag Location
into your Quick Settings.

If it isn’t on already, turn on Use location.
After you turn on device location, you can also:
- Turn on Find My Device, which helps you find your phone if you lose it.
- Get turn-by-turn directions when navigating.
- Share your phone’s location with others to help them find you.
- Allow apps to get your phone’s location and give you location-based services.
If you turn device location off:
- Some apps work best when location is on. When it’s off, some features may not work right.
- You can’t get turn-by-turn directions when navigating.
- You can’t share your location with others.
