Set timers for your apps

You can track and even limit how much time you spend in apps each day to help improve your digital wellbeing.

Settings and features vary by device and Android version. The steps might be different on your phone.

    From the bottom of your screen, swipe up.

  2. Step 2 of 8

    Open the Settings app .

  3. Step 3 of 8

    Tap Digital Wellbeing & parental controls.

  4. Step 4 of 8

    If you haven’t used Digital Wellbeing before, tap Show data.

    You’ll find a chart that shows your phone use today:

    Screen time: What apps you had on screen and for how long

    Unlocks: How many times you unlocked your phone

    Notifications: How many notifications you've gotten and from which apps

  5. Step 5 of 8

    For more info about a particular app listed, tap the name of the app.

  6. Step 6 of 8

    To limit how much time you spend in an app each day, tap App timer .

  7. Step 7 of 8

    Choose how much time you’d like to spend in the app, then tap OK.

  8. Step 8 of 8

    When you run out of time, the app closes and its icon dims. App timers reset at midnight.
