Set up daily routines with Google Assistant

You can ask your Google Assistant to help with daily routines — say one command and your Assistant can do multiple actions. For example, if you say, “Hey Google, good morning,” your Assistant can turn on your smart lights, tell you about the weather, play music or news, and more.

Settings and features vary by device and Android version. The steps might be different on your phone.

  1. Step 1 of 10

To get started, on your Android, say, "Hey Google, open Assistant settings."

  2. Step 2 of 10

    Under "Popular settings," tap Routines.

  3. Step 3 of 10

From here you can create a routine or set up a ready-made routine.

To customize a pre-existing routine, under "Ready-made," tap a routine. For example, to set up a routine to help you start your day, tap Good morning.

  4. Step 4 of 10

Tap the command under "When" to edit the command.

  5. Step 5 of 10

Tap Add to create a command in addition to those listed.

  6. Step 6 of 10

Enter your additional command. When you’re finished, tap OK.

  7. Step 7 of 10

Under "Assistant will," choose what you want your Assistant to do when you say the command.

Tip: To change an action, tap its settings .

  8. Step 8 of 10

If you want any media to play when you say your command, under "And then play,", choose the media source.

  9. Step 9 of 10

    When you’re done, tap Save.

  10. Step 10 of 10

Now when you say "Hey Google, good morning," your phone will complete all the actions that are part of your routine.
