Back up & sync device contacts

You can back up & sync contacts on your device by saving them as Google contacts. Google contacts are available across Google services.

Settings and features vary by device and Android version. The steps might be different on your phone.

    On your Android device, open the Settings app .

  2. Step 2 of 8

    Tap Google.

  3. Step 3 of 8

    Tap Settings for Google apps.

  4. Step 4 of 8

    Tap Google Contacts sync.

  5. Step 5 of 8

    Tap Also sync device contacts.

  6. Step 6 of 8

    Turn on “Automatically back up & sync device contacts.”

  7. Step 7 of 8

    Select the account you’d like your contacts to be saved in.

    Important: Your contacts can only be saved to one Google Account. You can’t back up contacts to a child’s account or a G Suite account that you use for work or school.

  8. Step 8 of 8

    Any contacts on your device will now be synced to your Google Account.
