Secure an account with suspicious activity

Learn to secure your account if you suspect it has been accessed without your permission.

  1. Step 1 of 6

    If you notice unfamiliar or suspicious activity on your account, you can take control of your account and make it more secure.

    To start, sign in to your Google Account and tap Security at the top.

    Important: If you cannot sign in, go to the Account Recovery page and answer the questions as best you can. If you’re having trouble, learn more about recovering your account.

  2. Step 2 of 6

    Under “Recent security activity” you’ll find a short list of recent sign-ins and other activity related to account security. You can tap them for more information.

    To see activity from the last 28 days, tap Review security activity.

  3. Step 3 of 6

    Review the details of this activity. Under “Do you recognize this activity?” you can:

    • Tap Yes, it was me to verify.
    • Tap No, secure account if the activity is suspicious. Then, follow the steps on the screen to secure your account.

  4. Step 4 of 6

    Another way to secure your account is to review devices that are using your account.

    From the Security page of your Google Account, go to “Your devices” and tap Manage all devices.

  5. Step 5 of 6

    Here you’ll find the devices where you’re signed in and your recent sessions on these devices.

    Tap a device for more information, and follow the on-screen instructions to secure your account if necessary.
