Recover a recently deleted account

If your Google Account was recently deleted, you can retrieve it using the account recovery process.

Features are subject to availability. The steps may look different depending on your device.

  1. Step 1 of 5

If you deleted your Google Account recently, it may still be recoverable. If you can successfully complete account recovery, you’ll be able to sign in as usual and access your account data.

To get started, head to g.co/recover and enter your Gmail address.

Important: Not all deleted accounts can be recovered. The sooner you attempt to recover a deleted account, the more likely you'll be to recover the data.

  2. Step 2 of 5

Here you’ll be notified if the account may still be recoverable.

    Tap Next.

  3. Step 3 of 5

Then, enter your password if you remember it. Tap Next. If you can’t remember your password, tap Try another way.

Follow the on-screen steps to recover your account. Learn more about how to recover your account.

  4. Step 4 of 5

Reset your password when prompted. Be sure to create a strong password and don’t repeat one you’ve used on your Google Account before. Learn more about how to create strong passwords.

    Tap Save password.

  5. Step 5 of 5

You’ve successfully recovered your Google Account.

From here, tap Secure my account to update or verify your recovery phone number and email. If you use 2-Step Verification, create and save backup codes.

Learn more about why we recommend using 2-Step Verification.
