Enroll in Advanced Protection
The Advanced Protection Program offers the maximum amount of security for users who keep highly sensitive information on their devices.
Features are subject to availability. The steps may look different depending on your device.
Advanced Protection
Enroll in the Advanced Protection Program to get Google’s strongest account security.
Advanced Protection is recommended for people with a higher risk of targeted online attacks. This may include journalists, activists, political campaign staffers, business leaders, IT admins, and anyone who may be targeted for possessing valuable files or sensitive information.
Downloads
With Advanced Protection, your account has stronger protection against harmful downloads. Advanced Protection runs extra checks on downloads from Gmail and Chrome to make sure they’re safe and free of malware.
Data
Advanced Protection only allows Google apps and verified third-party apps to access your Google Account data with your permission.
Identity verification
Advanced Protection deters hackers from targeting your account. If anyone tries to access your account, Advanced Protection takes extra steps to verify your identity, requiring a security key to log in. Even if a hacker has your username and password, they won’t be able to sign in to your account without your security key.
How to get started
To enroll in Advanced Protection, you’ll need to purchase security keys first. We recommend purchasing 2 keys – a main key, and a backup key to store in a safe place.
