Avoid dangerous websites with Enhanced Safe Browsing

Make browsing the internet safer by using Google’s Enhanced Safe Browsing feature to verify websites, extensions and more.

Features are subject to availability. The steps may look different depending on your device.

  1. Step 1 of 5

For added security against online threats across Google apps you can enable Enhanced Safe Browsing.

Enhanced Safe Browsing offers faster, proactive protection against dangerous websites, downloads and extensions. It requires browsing data to be sent to Google.

When you turn on Enhanced Safe Browsing, it:

    • Keeps you safe and is used to improve your security in Google apps, such as Chrome, Gmail or Chat, when you are signed in
    • Improves security for you and everyone on the web
    • In Chrome, warns you if passwords are exposed in a data breach
    • Sends URLs from Chrome and Google apps to Safe Browsing to check them. Also sends a small sample of pages, downloads, extension activity and system information to help discover new threats. Temporarily links this data to your Google Account when you're signed in, to protect you across Google apps. Learn more about the benefits of Enhanced Safe Browsing.
