Use Password Checkup to identify and change weak passwords
Increase the security of your online accounts by finding and changing any unsafe passwords. Use Google’s Password Checkup to make sure you have strong passwords in place.

Google keeps your account safe from attacks with Password Checkup. Google identifies your weak and reused passwords so you can make new ones and tighten up your security.
To start, sign in to your Google Account and tap Security at the top.
Tip: Visit passwords.google.com to open Password Checkup directly.

Tap Review security tips to open your Security Checkup.

To review your passwords, tap Your saved passwords.
Step 4 of 7
Tap Go to Password Checkup.

Tap Check passwords.
You may be asked to verify your identity.

The password checkup will show callouts in yellow if you have any passwords needing review for the following reasons:
- Compromised passwords: These passwords are unsafe because they’ve been published online. Change any compromised passwords as soon as you can.
- Reused passwords: If you use the same password for multiple accounts, you’re at greater risk of being hacked. Use a unique password for every account. To help you keep track of your passwords, Google’s Password Manager can remember them for you.
- Weak passwords: Passwords with obvious phrases, simple keyboard patterns and single words can be easily guessed. Use Google’s Password Manager to suggest strong passwords without needing to memorize them. Learn more about how to create strong passwords.
To take action on a recommendation, tap the dropdown arrow
at the right.

From here, you can change passwords if you’ve repeated one across sites, or used a weak one.
