Verify apps using Play Protect
Learn how to use Google Play Protect to verify apps you download from the Google Play store.

Google Play Protect checks your apps and devices for harmful behavior.
- It runs a safety check on apps from the Google Play Store before you download them.
- It checks your device for malware and warns you about potentially harmful apps.
- It monitors app permissions and will alert you to unused apps with access to your data.

To start, open the Google Play Store app

Tap the profile icon at the top right.

Tap Play Protect.

At the top right, tap Settings
.

Google Play Protect is on by default, but you can turn it off by tapping the toggle next to “Scan apps with Play Protect”.
Keep Play Protect on to continue downloading and using apps safely.
